Naomi Takeuchi Meets President G.W. Bush
and Cabinet Members
Durham, NC (March 9, 2006) - Naomi Takeuchi, President of 1000 Cranes Business Consulting, shook the hand of President G.W. Bush after hearing his luncheon keynote address at the White House Conference on Faith-Based and Community Initiatives Conference at the Hilton Washington. This Philanthropy Summit included representatives nationwide in both the corporate arena and the faith-based community with the intention of building ties between them.
"It was an honor and privilege to meet the President," stated Takeuchi. "From my consulting practice, I have seen faith-based and community organizations benefit from the Executive Orders the President signed in January 2001. The White House office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives (FBCI) and the Compassion Capital Fund (CCF) allow these organizations to compete effectively by providing a specific set of guidelines. By doing so, grantees are allowed to receive Federal funding while continuing to maintain the division between church and state. The FBCI recognizes the importance of these organizations in providing instrumental services to the underserved."
Ms. Takeuchi also had the opportunity to speak with US Secretary Elaine Chao and US Secretary Carlos Guttierez about her work with the Duke Certificate Program in Nonprofit Management. "Secretary Chao and Secretary Guttierez are strong supporters of the FBCI initiatives. The Department of Labor and Department of Commerce along with other FBCI agencies clearly understand the need for supporting faith-based and community efforts. I applaud their support and compassion in continuing these programs," explained Takeuchi. "They have established clear Federal grant guidelines which now allow organizations to effectively apply and secure Federal support."
